Letter to the Editor

Our future is important

    Dear Editor:

In your May 19 issue, Bill Pearson writes about “Selectmen explain roundabout financing,” claiming supporters and detractors monopolizing most of the 95-minute meeting.

I am surprised that any unbiased reporter would think of concerned citizens as either monopolizers or detractors (concerned citizens, perhaps) at a serious meeting.

The roundabout is becoming a real “round about” is many ways. The opinions of concerned townspeople should be heard with their input. This item should involve taxpayers and citizens’ futures. Our tomorrow matters and the roundabout should be voted upon.

I, for one, need to know about Mr. Coulombe’s plans for condominiums, retail space, and other unseen attractions. We all need to know, as “our town” is being slated for great change. Is this favorable or unfavorable? We need to know ... are we slated for a “special place” or “anyplace?”

Listen up Boothbay and care about your children’s community decisions and our future. Also, remember that American was founded by a group of “detractors” who really cared. They, too, had something to say. Our future is important.
