Ocean Point Column: Thanksgiving is upon us

Time does fly and it’s hard to believe that the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us. November has been colder than normal and certainly the weather has been a challenge in many parts of the country. Let’s hope for good traveling weather so that we can all arrive at our Thanksgiving destinations safe and on time.

Link and Julie Brown and Lanny and Leslie Whitehouse returned recently from what sounded like a whirlwind European and Bermuda vacation.

Their trip took them by air to Paris, France where they visited the Eiffel Tower. Julie states that the tower was closed due to construction but the view from the lower level was quite beautiful. They then boarded the speed train through the Channel to London and spent a couple of days touring the city. The next phase of their trip was a Princess cruise which they boarded in Southampton and sailed to Normandy to tour; this was the major reason for choosing this particular cruise and they were not disappointed.

Next it was on to Vigo, Spain, Lisbon Portugal, which they found to be quite beautiful, and Ponte Delgarda in the Azores for some shopping. From there they sailed across the Atlantic to Hamilton, Bermuda for more sightseeing and shopping. Although they had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their vacation, they were of course happy to be home again. Julie was especially delighted that the entire trip went quite smoothly and fortunately did not experience the nightmarish travel of last year.

Holly Hornor, daughter Holly and granddaughter Addie, met Liz and Sarah Dawson with their children Henry, Nara and Isabelle for lunch in Portsmouth recently. Holly writes that it was great to be together; it’s always fun to spend time with Ocean Point friends offseason for a little reunion. With the holidays ahead of us I’m sure we will all be having our own reunions with family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving.
