Ocean Point Column: Storms, college kids and more

Tue, 03/06/2018 - 1:00pm

There has been very little Ocean Point news of late, however, we have experienced some severe weather in the form of a Nor'easter, two in a week! Coco Webber reports that Ocean Point did not see the full brunt of the first storm, however, the tide was extremely high and debris litters the road with rocks and wood from Steans’ to Mardens’. Coco also thinks that the rocks along the road may have shifted a bit.

Julie Brown shared some photos of the storm on the blog and I believe Sue Goodrich posted photos on Facebook.

Coco had made mention in a recent conversation how windy it has been these past couple of months at the Point and as I previously reported Ted and Mary Fuller sustained some damage in one of those wind storms.

The Fullers paid a visit to the Point to assess their damages that fortunately turned out to be only to the exterior of the cottage, no interior damage. It was the first time that they had seen 3 trees reduced to only 2 as a result of the October storm.

Mary reports that all is well with their family and she and Ted are looking forward to their family get together (all 18) at the end of July. Her grandsons are enjoying their college experience. Muffy’s son Sam attends Bowdoin; Ted’s son Teddy is at Denver and Kerrin’s son Stod attends St. Lawrence. Kerrin’s daughter Kendall is living in Boston.

As our thoughts turn toward spring and returning to Ocean Point, I would like to remind everyone that the upcoming summer events calendar is now posted on the website. The Activities Committee has formulated a great program again for all to enjoy. If there is an activity that you would like to assist in chairing we welcome your input. Please keep in mind that the calendar is subject to change, as we get closer to the summer season; we will, of course, keep you posted. We have already added two more events that are not currently on the calendar.

Have a great week as we prepare for another storm!
