Ocean Point Column: A new Pointer, summer activities and more

Tue, 04/17/2018 - 12:00pm

It’s been several since the last column and although there is not a lot news to report, I did want to inform you all of some updates.

I hope that your winter was uneventful; here in the Northeast winter like weather continues. Temperatures are nowhere near spring with lots of precipitation and wind. This of course affects what we are all anxious for, seasonal water turn on. The BRWD is working around the clock to make that happen, thank you to their employees for their effort. Updates on the status of the water can be found on their website.

Please join me in welcoming one of our newest Ocean Pointers, Hayes Stone Webber, born to Hannah and Chris Webber in March. Congratulations to Hannah and Chris, big brother Chip and grandparents Chris and Coco.

The latest version of the summer Activities Calendar is currently on the website. We have a jam-packed summer of activities planned thanks to the efforts of the Activities Committee. New to the calendar this summer will include kid’s yoga taught by Mary Rush who has recently completed her yoga certification; congratulations Mary!

David and Alison Butterworth have arranged for the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council to give a presentation one evening on addiction, so thank you to them for arranging this.

We are still in need of someone to chair the Rummage Sale; if you or someone you know is interested, please let me know. This is one of our biggest events of the summer.

Our Treasurer Jen Klein is accepting summer memberships; please send along your donation to OPCT, P.O.Box 642, East Boothbay ME 04544.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our year-round residents for posting pictures all winter. We are all truly grateful for your time and effort; it helps the winter pass just a little quicker and reminds us all how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful area.

I hope to see many of you in the coming weeks as we all return for another season.

Have a great week!
