Ocean Point Column: Annual Meeting of the OPCT

    Activities are over for the season at the Point. The kids had an exceptionally busy last week of activities with a Game Night, Tennis Scramble, Pizza and a Scavenger Hunt all thanks to Ginna Yerrall. The second of the season ladies Porch Party was hosted by Susan Anderson and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, thank you Susan.

    The Casino is now closed for the season; tennis courts will remain open, as will the playground. Playground bricks are available for purchase by calling Alison Butterworth; a 4x4 brick is priced at $145. and an 8x8 is priced at $175. An order form will be available on the website in the fall.

    The Annual Meeting of the OPCT was held Saturday morning with a standing room only crowd in attendance. Our new officers for the Trust are Mike Anderson, president; Matt Lindley, vice president; Jen Klein, treasurer; and Maryellen Bertrand, secretary. New Trustees of the Board are Maureen Driscoll and Jeff Slayton. Those remaining on the Board include Alex Hall, Dan Hare, Liz Holland and Lanny Whitehouse. The Nominating Committee remains the same, George Yerrall, Helene Cass and Alec Dun.

    The Membership approved the designs for the two new tennis courts and a sports court as well as a new Casino. The Board was authorized to begin a capital campaign to raise the funds necessary to complete the project. If you are interested in joining the Finance Committee or the Building Committee please reach out to a Board member. More information regarding the new facility can be found on the website.

    Congratulations to Roy and Marian Hussey who celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 23. The Hussey family will be gathering this weekend to celebrate Marian’s 92nd birthday, a very happy birthday to her.

    The weather certainly cooperated on Saturday, Aug. 19 for the wedding of Matt Whitehouse and Denise Shannon at the Wilson Chapel. Family and friends gathered to witness the exchange of vows which was presided over by Rev. Thomas Kerr. A reception was held at the Gallery in Boothbay Harbor following the ceremony, congratulations to Matt and Denise.
