Seahawks boys and girls basketball teams are tournament bound!

Despite the deluge of snow causing several postponements, Maine’s high school basketball regular season is completed and Boothbay Region High School has placed both its boys and girls varsity teams as top contenders for the crowns in Western Maine Class C.

The BRHS boys finished the season at 16-2 and is the top seed in the tournament. Their only losses were at second-seeded Dirigo and at fifth-seeded Madison.

The BRHS girls finished the season at 17-1 and is seeded second behind 15-3 Maranacook. Their only loss was a 50-44 game at Oak Hill.

The Boothbay boys will play Monday, Feb. 16 at 8:30 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center. They will face the winner of eighth-seeded Maranacook and ninth-seeded St. Dominic, who will play a tournament preliminary game this week.

The Boothbay girls will play Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center. They will face tenth-seeded Madison, a 48-41 winner over seventh-seeded Waynflete in a tournament preliminary game on Tuesday.

Should both teams advance to the semifinals, the girls will face the winner of the 3 vs. 6 match-up on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. and boys will face the winner of the 4 vs. 5 match-up at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
