Dear Editor:

Seems like a few people missed the boat.

I became quite upset after reading the letters to the editor that were written by Jeff Curtis and Mark Fourre, MD, in the Boothbay Register and published July 3. I am grateful to both gentlemen for listing the new services offered by St. Andrews Healthcare, such as the Wound Care and Rehabilitation.

But listen, Mr. Curtis and Dr. Fourre, please, to what you are not hearing: The community does not want a 24/7 urgent care center; they are looking for the return of their 24/7 emergency room.

Many people specifically moved to this peninsula due to the availability of an emergency department.

I do not believe that the Vision of 2019 was neither discussed nor voted upon by the community.

If we had to do it all over again five years ago, we should have moved to the other peninsula.
