Nomination papers available Feb. 9 in Boothbay Harbor

Nominations open for several Boothbay Harbor board and committee seats on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Some incumbents have announced their intentions to run, others are still deciding, and two have decided not to seek another term. Nomination papers will be available at the Boothbay Harbor Town Clerk's office at 11 Howard Street on Thursday, Feb. 9.

The following positions are open:

Two-year term openings:

One Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD Board of Trustees. Trustee Cameron Mitchell has already stepped down, and interim trustee Ronnie Campbell took his place.  Boothbay Harbor town officials said Campbell would need to take out papers to run.

Three-year term openings:

Two Boothbay Harbor selectmen and overseers of the poor positions are open. Selectman Tricia Warren has announced she will run again. Board Chairman Denise Griffin was undecided.

One Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD school board member. CSD Board Chairman Larry Colcord occupies the seat. When reached by phone, Colcord said he wasn't sure he was going to run.

One Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD Trustee. Board Vice Chairman Richard Hallinan's term is up and he said he plans to run again.

One Boothbay Harbor Trustee for the Region Water District. Incumbent Walter Reed III has decided to step down, saying, “As much as I have enjoyed being part of the board for the water district, I will not be running again. The water district has achieved great things for this region and it will always think of the customer first.  I hope whoever runs for my position will help to maintain that philosophy.”  

One Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Cemetery District Trustee. Incumbent Ralph H. Welch gave a firm yes in response to the question of whether he will run again.

One Boothbay Harbor Trustee for the Sewer District.  Incumbent Henry “Ted” Tedeschi Jr. could not be reached.  

The deadline to return nomination papers is March 21 by 4:30 p.m. Voting will take place at the Boothbay Harbor Town Office on Friday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
