No place like home

Dear Editor

‘Twas the month before Christmas when people were already talking about the annual Community Christmas Dinner! “When are the posters ready?” “Could I donate a turkey?’ “Do you need any desserts?” The hall was reserved, the papers were notified, the posters were printed and put up, and people were calling.

Now that it’s over, I’m not sure who was blessed more — the workers and donors or the invited guests. About 100 people joined together at the American Legion in Boothbay and enjoyed a fabulous and abundant meal, thanks to so many. Thank you to Ralph at the Bistro for his delicious prime rib, to Hannaford and Shaw’s for their donations, to the library for printing the posters for free, and to Boothbay Region Greenhouses for donating greens and tulips for the centerpieces. But there were so many more individuals who invested time and provisions and skills, too many to name.

Thank you to all of you. This community is like none other. When it comes to giving, there is no place like home!
