Joseph Charpentier has been hired by the Boothbay Register as a full-time reporter.

He will be covering local government, schools, sports, community events and more, and will be replacing Morgan Callan Rogers, who will continue writing as a part-time news contributor.

Joe has lived in Maine, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Wales (UK), and London and has worked as a copywriter, on a fishing vessel, in a wood mill, as a carpenter and at a couple newspapers. He graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2012 with his BA in political science and in 2015 he received his MA in international journalism from Swansea University.

Just before starting at the newspaper, Joe and his wife, Haley, welcomed their first child, a baby girl.
