Last Friday morning, before the storm, our Birding 101 group went to Ocean Point and Little River inlet to see what birds the impending bad weather had driven in to shore. They saw 26 varied species. Some of the most unusual sightings were a Rough Legged hawk, Black guillemot (one of which was sporting summer plumage), a cardinal in a rose bush in the surf; Eider ducks; and other routine sea birds. Birding 101 is now meeting each Wednesday 3 to 4 p.m. Anyone is welcome to just drop in and enjoy the conversation about birds and their habits. Field trips are occasional.

We have been asked to join the Harbor Theater members on Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. for the Sky Bergman film, “Lives Well Lived,” celebrating the secrets, wit, and wisdom of age — 40 people share 3,000 years of collective life experiences. We will enjoy a special ticket price of $6 for this showing if we can get 20 people to sign up. Please join us for this event — either come in to sign up or call the office and we will put your name on the list.

Don’t forget — if you need the van to pick you up and take you to walk at the Y or if you need more information about our programs, call 633-9876.
