News and Notes from The Community Center

We are scurrying about getting ready for our third annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale! Bakers are rallying around the flag and coming up with some unusual offerings for this one. Be sure to come in on Wednesday Nov. 22 to buy a pie or two for the holidays. What better hostess gift to take to the feast than a homemade pie? As usual, we welcome bakers and buyers to join us in this fundraiser for The Center. If you want to bake for us, call or come by and get your name on the list.

Those of you who follow us on Facebook know that the recent van trip to the theater was a great success. We now have the particulars of the trip down to a fine art — parking, lunching, and ticket purchase. Be sure to sign up for an upcoming production at Portland Stage. The complete season is on the board and you can sign up for as many as you would like to attend. The Enrichment Program pays for everything except your lunch. It is all good.

Looking ahead: Richard Plunkett, The Wizard of Odds, will be conducting identification and appraisal sessions every fourth Tuesday from 10 a.m. until noon beginning on Nov. 28. There is a $5 charge for one item or $10 for three — that money to go to The Community Center.

There is a flurry of interest in a Beginner Bridge class. To this end, we need an instructor and players. Call us if you would like to be included.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 17, the Center will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. for the Genealogy Group and any other who may wish to come and play games or solve puzzles. The coffee will be on.

Don’t forget: Seniors 62 and over walk free at the Y on Tuesday and Thursday. Call to be picked up by our van or for information about all of our offerings. 633-9876.
