The Die-Cut Greeting Card class is full to overflowing! This first four-week session has been very successful and there is a waiting list building for a second class this coming fall. Most exciting is that an outgrowth of this class is a Card Group which will be forming to meet on a regular basis.  For information about all of our offerings please call 633-9876.

Looking ahead - our musician on call, Ben Betts, will be offering Sidewalk Calypso with his steel drums on Friday, Aug. 25 from noon to 2 p.m. Come and have a seat on our park benches out in front of the Center and enjoy the music. Ben is a student at Hampshire College who is home for the summer and has been volunteering his time and talent with us. He is a performing musician who offers relaxed mellow, yet upbeat, entertainment. Here at the Center, he offers lessons on keyboard, guitar, and ukulele

The next Van Trip is on Saturday, Aug. 26. We are going to the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester for the Maine Native American Summer Market and Demonstration where members of the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Micmac and Maliseet tribes will demonstrate basket making, stone carving, bark etching, bead work and jewelry. There will also be performances of drumming, singing, dancing, and storytelling by the Burnurwurbskek Singers and Dancers of the Penobscot Nation. This is the southernmost gathering of Wabanaki artists in the state of Maine. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn about and experience first-hand Maine’s Native American culture.
