News and Notes from The Community Center

The Boothbay Writers Group will continue to meet during the summer on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m. Facilitated by Robert Driscoll, this is a drop-in group and welcomes writers of all levels: Journals, articles, short stories, blogs, and novels. A great opportunity to talk with others who enjoy putting pen to paper.

The second in the series of Community Enrichment Programs is a trip on Saturday, July 1 to the Maine Maritime Museum to see the special exhibit “Into the Lantern: A Lighthouse Experience.” The van will leave the center at 10 a.m. We will have lunch and visit the museum and return in the afternoon. Seating is limited, so please call the center to make a reservation. There is no charge for this trip --- participants will be expected to pay for lunch only.

A new Art Class is forming and will be an introduction to basic skills. The instructor hopes to carry participants into intermediate and advanced work. This first three-class session will cover still life painting using acrylics. The class size is limited – sign up soon, if you are interested. Looking ahead, there will be a Lyme Disease Support Group presentation, with Q&A, on “How NOT to Have A Tick Encounter” on July 18 at 2 p.m. Also in the making is Drop-in Knitting in the evening. Based upon the wishes of the participants, the group will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings. Again, sign-up if you are interested.
