News and Notes from The Community Center

Tue, 02/21/2017 - 7:00pm

In spite of vast amounts of snow and blizzard conditions, our merry little bakers got to work and produced the most amazing array of special cookies. The community trudged through and bought more than 100 buckets of goodies during our second annual Valentine's Day Cookie Walk. Thank you to all who participated. We had fun and we hope you did, too.

While the snow is melting why not sort through all those things you have been collecting -- find an attic treasure and bring it down to be appraised by the Wizard of Odds who is here on Tuesday mornings. You may have something special -- you never know.

We are beginning to work on a Community Cookbook and invite you to contribute a recipe or two or more. We want the old-time Maine recipes; the ones your grandmothers made and we want you to tell the stories that go with them. Old photographs that are related to your contributions are welcome, also. Put on your thinking caps and see if you can come up with something unique so that we can make this community cookbook special and different from all the rest.

Be sure to become a Facebook friend of The Community Center and follow us. We are now posting each day to keep you abreast of what is going on.

Finally, we want you to know that the Parent Support Group is having a special program on March 4 from 10 a.m. until noon, called “Healthy Eating on A Budget.” It is open to the public but we need to know if you are coming so please call 633-1162 to reserve a seat.

For more information about all of our offerings please call 633-9876.
