News and Notes from The Community Center

Tue, 05/15/2018 - 10:30am

The Victorian Architecture Tour of Belfast on June 6 is sold out. We will be taking only the van but Richard Plunkett has said that he will repeat the trip so come in and sign up for a slot if you are interested.

We are forever indebted to the students from the Deck House School for coming each week on Wednesdays to offer Computer Assistance to whomever needs it. The young men will be here this week on May 16 and next week on May 23 and then will leave for the summer. We wish them a wonderful Prize Day and a good summer. We look forward to their coming back in the Fall. So many have benefited from the wonderful service they offer.

Don’t forget to save the tabs from your drink cans for the collection jug in the Red Wagon. These tabs are 100 percent aluminum and we collect them to help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals in Cambridge and Boston. The tab is the only pure aluminum in drink cans and the cans can still be recycled after the tab is removed. Since this program began in 1989, nearly a half-million pounds of aluminum have been collected and recycled. Just save the tab when you open a drink can and bring the accumulated tabs to The Community Center and drop them in the jug in the red wagon just inside the door. The Shriners thank you and so do we.

Please Come Play With Us on Friday evenings from 6 until 9. Dominoes and cribbage.
