Fri, 07/11/2014 - 7:00am

For women who have been affected by domestic or dating violence, a support group can be a safe place to talk about the abuse, in an environment that fosters trusting and caring relationships.

New Hope for Women is pleased to offer these free support groups, in each of the four counties it serves. Groups meet weekly in Bath, Wiscasset, Rockland and Belfast.

The groups provide the emotional support of peers while enabling attendees to work through the effects of abuse. Ultimately, New Hope for Women’s goal is to encourage personal growth and empowerment in all areas of one’s life. For more information or to sign up to attend, please call New Hope for Women at 1-800-522-3304.

In 2013, New Hope for Women provided over 3300 hours of direct service, and over 4,100 hours of community and youth outreach including violence prevention and response programming. Volunteers on our 24-hour crisis hotline provided over 3,200 hours of hotline coverage.

New Hope for Women offers support to people in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. It also provides important educational resources to assist our communities in creating a safer and healthier future.
