The new banners are hung

The four new “add-a-year” banners touting the successes of Boothbay Region High School boys and girls basketball, football and cross-country over the years are now hung on the newly painted Porter Memorial Gymnasium walls.

According to the school, the state championship banners and the sportsmanship banners will also be hung on the gym walls soon.

The school and the Boosters Club are discussing where in the school the other banners (runner-up, etc.) could be displayed.

As has been explained, when the banners were taken down this past summer to be painted, it was discovered the gym was running out of wall space for the various banners, with hopefully more to come.

“Recently, many of our teams have achieved accomplishments and have earned numerous new banners to be hung,” explained BRHS Principal Dan Welch in a letter to the community distributed at this season’s home basketball games. “However, we have run out of room to place them in the gym along with our current banners.”
