The Morris Farm hosted 43 riders for the Tour de Farms XV. Riders left the Morris Farm in Wiscasset to pedal either 100, 50, or 20 miles through Midcoast Maine farmland.

The routes passed 13 farms and local landmarks. Several also doubled as rest stops, where riders could purchase local produce and goods, transported back to the Morris Farm by volunteers: Goranson's Farm in Dresden, Uncas' Farm at Sheepscot General in Whitefield, Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association, Hotel Pemaquid, Nobleboro Village Store, Rising Tide Community Market and FARMS and Morning Dew Farm in Newcastle.

The ride logistics were organized by Bob Bruce of The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, who brings years of experience in route planning and safety to the event.

The riders returned to the Morris Farm to a meal of locally sourced food of organic pulled pork sandwiches from Treble Ridge Farm in Whitefield, homemade baked beans, cornbread made with Songbird Farms in Starks organic cornmeal, cole slaw prepared with Morris Farm cabbage, and Round Top Vanilla Ice Cream topped with warm organic blueberries from After the Fall Farm in Montville.

The Morris Farm Trust thanks all of the event volunteers, especially Bob Bruce, without whom the event would not be possible, the farmers and businesses who hosted rest stops, and the following local businesses who donated goods: Rising Tide Community Market, Big Barn Coffee, Borealis Breads, Hannaford, Renys and Round Top Ice Cream.

Proceeds from the event will go to improving the Morris Farm's commercial kitchen for fall and winter classes, and toward our Farm-to-School initiative with the Wiscasset Primary School. The Tour de Farms XVI will be held on Aug. 16, 2015.
