Dear Editor:

A couple of weeks ago, Mary Brewer wrote a very kind article about Becky and me. The "old" was certainly applicable but the "faithful" might have given us a little more credit than we deserve.

I write to say thank you because Mary and the Boothbay Register have always been, right from the very beginning, supportive of the Boothbay Region Community Band.

In 1991, when we had the idea of forming a band to honor the veterans on Memorial Day, she was the first person we called and her encouragement was invaluable.

The band may have been our idea, but the only reason it still exists some 23 years later, is due solely to the "faithfulness" of so many members (though I dare not call them "old").

I believe the community would want me to thank you, and I do.
