Misinformation in marijuana article

Tue, 05/09/2017 - 9:00am

    Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to the recent article, "Knowing marijuana industry helps avoid pot holes." This is a new and complex issue and I understand the need to be informed and to address what is right for the community.

While I respect the efforts of all involved in this format, some information given was inaccurate. Attorney Ted Kelleher, "It's legal to have 2.5 ounces and up to six plants can be grown at home." This information is inaccurate.

According to the Maine Recreational Marijuana law, a person 21 or older may possess 2.5 ounces, six harvest-ready plants, 12 immature plants, and an unlimited amount of seedlings.

Misinformation and opinions are already abound, it is pertinent to be accurate on such issues for clarity. I am glad that the community is addressing this issue and look forward to reading more about it.
