Michael W. Hasenfus

Michael W. Hasenfus, 53, of South Paris, Maine, died July 22, 2017 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston surrounded by his family.

Michael was born in Bangor, Maine to Walter and Rosalie Hasenfus. He and his family wintered in Lyndonville, Vermont spending the summers in Boothbay Harbor. After spending one winter in Fort Meyers, Florida, the family moved permanently to Boothbay Harbor where Michael attended school and eventually earned his G.E.D.

After high school, Michael was employed by the Ebb Tide Restaurant, and Amato’s. His passion for drama and singing shined when he was a part of the Lincoln County Community Theater in Damariscotta as well as the Bristol Footlighters. He was on a dart league in Boothbay Harbor and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Michael was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church in Rumford.

In June of 2005, Michael married Noel Christine and obtained an instant family who loved him dearly. He loved spending time with his stepchildren, and stepgrandchildren as they were the sunshine in his days. Michael enjoyed playing cribbage, solving crossword puzzles, gardening with his wife, and evening campfires. He was an avid reader, taking time daily to read his Bible. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

Michael was predeceased by his father Walter.

He is survived by his wife Noel of South Paris and their children Cheray Lacomis, of Norway, Sheena Johnson of Norway, Gayla Sheldon of Windham, Joshua Pike of South Paris, and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Rosalie Hasenfus of Boothbay Harbor; brother Steven Hasenfus of Bangor; brother John Hasenfus and wife Patty of Hinesburg, Vermont; sister Mary Miller and husband Kevin of Boothbay Harbor; sister Andrea Perkins and husband Russell of Wiscasset; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at Hosanna Church in Oxford on Aug. 4. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Jimmy Fund.
