Letter to the Editor

In memory of Gavin Clark

Wed, 10/14/2015 - 7:45am

Dear Editor:

Gavin Clark was the brother of Mason Clark and the son of Angelique Delano. Gavin tragically died the weekend of Oct. 11, 2015, at the tender age of 15, just shy of 16, to a tragic event.

Gavin was so many things to so many people. He was a confidant humorist and a caring, kindhearted young man who also contributed to the family household by watching his younger brother, Mason, on multiple occasions, while his mother worked to support the family.

Gavin also loved to skateboard and was great at it. He could be seen on many instances, flipping his skateboard into the air as if he were about to take flight.

Originally wanting to assist the family during such a tragic event, it became clear to me that many others felt the same way. I have taken the liberty to start a “Gavin Clark Fund” in which 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the family.

Although another fundraiser is taking place, on a website known as GoFundMe, a portion of the money helps pay for the program itself.

To financially support the “Gavin Clark Fund,” you  may stop by The First NA in Wiscasset or mail your contribution to: “Gavin Clark Fund,” C/O The First NA, P.O. Box 431, Wiscasset, ME 04578.

The outpouring of community support is overwhelming and it makes me proud to know that so many want to give, even in the midst of personal financial constraint, to help out one of our own. Although we cannot bring Gavin back, as much as we all wish we could, won’t you help me support his family and contribute to Gavin’s last ride?

The event will end in 60 days.
