Meader scores 10 goals in Boothbay’s lacrosse victory

Seahawks defeat Lincoln Academy 17-6 in season opener

On April 24, Boothbay senior Sydney Meader showed why she is the school’s all-time leading lacrosse goal scorer. Meader tallied 10 goals in Boothbay’s 17-6 victory over Lincoln Academy. Meader also assisted on a goal. Other Seahawk scorers were JoAnna Shaw, two goals and two assists; Chloe Arsenault, two goals; and Jackie McLoon, one goal and two assists. Hannah Cola and Emily Amaral scored one goal each.

This was Boothbay’s first competition since April 6 at the Maine LAX Challenge. Boothbay controlled the majority of play with Cola, Meader and  Arsenault combining for 13 draw controls. Cola teamed with Hali Goodwin for controlling 11 ground balls.

“Our team overcame a few mental lapses today, but our win was the result of our ability to focus and work as a team offensively and defensively,” Coach Donna Jordan said.

For Lincoln Academy, Brinley Harrison scored four goals and Bella Fabiano tallied two. Boothbay goalie Page Brown recorded five saves. Lincoln Academy’s Avery Lowe made five saves.

Boothbay is 1-0. Lincoln Academy is 0-2. The Seahawks will host Camden Hills at 4 p.m. Thursday at Sherman Field.
