Maxine V. Saltmarsh

Maxine V. (Rittall) Greenleaf Saltmarsh, 96, died May 3, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Concord, New Hampshire.

She was born in Dresden on Feb. 1, 1919 to the late John A. and Amelia A. (Brown) Rittall. She attended the local school in Dresden.

Maxine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Concord where she started the first Bus Ministry and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Hooksett Grange for over 50 years.

Maxine was a woman of many talents. She was a seamstress and a cook at Brown Brothers of Boothbay Harbor, Chase Restaurant and Opportunity House in Concord. She was a Concord Monitor Route Driver in the town of Bow.

She enjoyed spending time traveling with her family and friends. She also loved going to the Bill Gaither concerts with her Bible Study Group and spending summers in Boothbay Harbor. Some of her hobbies were bird watching, cooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was known for her willingness to help anyone in need.

Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Saltmarsh; two brothers, John B. and Chetley A. Rittall; two sisters, Helen A. Healy and Gwendolyn M. Little; a son-in-law, Harry D. Green; and granddaughter, Debra A. (Green) Stevens.

She is survived by her children, Paul V. and his wife Wendy Greenleaf of Trevett, Carlene V. Green of Concord, New Hampshire, Gerald H. and his wife Alice Greenleaf of Bow, New Hampshire; 10 grandchildren: Lorraine (Greenleaf) Clark of Vermont, Paula (Greenleaf) Whitlock of Florida, Donna (Green) Ponce, Wanda (Green) Evans, Robert Green, Dennis Green, Harry Green Jr., Duane Green, Darin Greenleaf and Bethany (Greenleaf) Paige, all of New Hampshire; many great- and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family; two sisters, Marion O’Meara of Massachusetts and Susie and her husband Manuel Phillips of Manchester, New Hampshire; and sister-in-law, Joan Rittall of Boothbay.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours and memorial services will be held on Friday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord. Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery in Bow.
