Bruce MacDonald is the newest member of the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District School Committee. On May 2, he defeated incumbent Bill Bailey, 117-98, during Boothbay’s municipal elections. The three-year seat was the only contested race on the ballot.

Two hundred twenty-seven ballots were cast in the annual town meeting referendum election.

Three incumbents won re-election without any opposition: Chuck Cunningham, selectman, 179 votes; Jonathan P. Lewis, Boothbay Region Water District trustee, 182; and Stanley W. Lewis, Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Cemetery District trustee, 198. Incumbent Kevin Anthony won re-election to the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District Board of Trustees as a write-in candidate with 19 votes. Anthony had not filed his nomination papers in time to appear on the ballot. All four were re-elected to three-year terms.

Boothbay residents also approved a $1,999,107.95 municipal budget which represents a 3.24 percent increase. Voters also approved a new cell tower ordinance and two land use ordinance amendments regarding defining and managing storm-damaged trees.
