Tue, 09/01/2015 - 8:45am

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Eleanor Logan of Boothbay Harbor will again represent the United States National Rowing Team and row at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in Lake Aiguebelette, Savoie, France, Aug. 30-Sept. 6.

Logan will row in the Women’s Pair event with Felice Mueller of Cleveland, Ohio.

In April, Logan and Mueller won the Women’s Pair event at the United States National Selection Regatta in Princeton, New Jersey. Their win allowed them to represent the United States at World Rowing Cup events in Europe this summer. The Rowing World Cup is an annual team competition comprising three international regattas per year and is not considered the World Championship event.

In June, at the Rowing World Cup #2 at Lake Varese, Italy, Logan and Mueller took fourth place which gave them the right to row in the World Championships later in the summer. Two hours later Logan substituted for a sick rower in the Women’s Eight and helped power them to another gold medal. The Women’s Eight has won nine consecutive World Championships including the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

In 2014, Logan rowed in the Women’s Eight that won a gold medal at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The World Championships began Sunday, Aug. 30. During the week, audio commentary will be streamed through the World Rowing website (http://www.worldrowing.com/events/2015-world-rowing-championships/). Pair finals are set for Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7:15 a.m. Eastern time (13:15 Western European time). Video and commentary will be streamed through the World Rowing website for the finals.
