Local historical groups meet

Lincoln County Historical Association hosts meeting at Boothbay Railway Village

Boards, staff and members from Lincoln County's many historical societies, museums and history-oriented organizations will attend the 2014 gathering of Lincoln County's historical organizations on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Boothbay Railway Village, Route 27, Boothbay. The gathering is being hosted by the Lincoln County Historical Association.

There will be a get-acquainted time, followed by panel discussions.

LCHA president Ed Kavanagh will welcome the attendees, while LCHA vice president Merry Fossel will moderate the panel discussion. On the panel will be: Cipperly Good, manager of collections, at the Penobscot Marine Museum. Good will talk about developing thematic exhibits out of collections; Joanna Torow, chief educator, Maine State Museum. Torow will talk about developing programs for children; and Jay Robbins, place based historian and past president of the Maine Genealogy Society. Robbins will talk about genealogy: resources for your community.
