Lisbon shut outs Boothbay, 19-0

Wed, 10/07/2015 - 7:45am

The Boothbay Region High School football team’s losing streak continued on Oct. 3 in Lisbon. Boothbay lost 19-0 to the Lisbon Greyhounds in a Class D South contest. This was the Seahawks’ fourth straight loss to open the season. No. 2 Lisbon improved to 3-1 in league play.

Seahawk coach Bryan Dionne believed his squad matched up well against a talented and well-coached Lisbon team.

“We played well,” Dionne said. “We didn’t score because we fumbled during a couple good drives. Defensively, we played them tough, but couldn’t get off the field on third down.”

Boothbay’s next opponent is Telstar Regional High School of Bethel. The Rebels are also winless this season and have struggled offensively. Dionne described Telstar as an important game for multiple reasons.

“We need this game to make the playoffs,” Dionne said. “It’s our homecoming. We need to avoid distractions and be prepared to play Friday night.”

The homecoming game starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, at Sherman Field.
