Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: More accidents involving deer

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 273 calls for the period of Nov. 15 to Nov. 20, and year to date, LCSO has responded to 18,451 calls.

Summonses

On Nov. 17, Jessica Baker, 25, of Rumford was issued a summons for Trafficking in Prison Contraband, by Detective Scott Hayden.

On Nov. 18, Anna E. Rushlau, 22, of Dresden was issued a summons for Operating Under the Influence, on Alna Road, Alna, by Deputy Chase Bosse.

Arrests

On Nov. 15, Vincent P. Maltese, 52, of Jefferson was arrested for Violating Condition of Release (x2), on Augusta Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.

On Nov. 17, Jaymi L. Hutchins, 31, of Rochester, New Hampshire was arrested on a York County warrant for Failure to Appear, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Detective Jared Mitkus.

On Nov. 17, Brian J. Bennett, 37, of Waldoboro was arrested for Criminal Conspiracy, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Detective Scott Hayden.

On Nov. 17, Douglas Cote, 29, of Rumford was arrested for Criminal Conspiracy, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Detective Scott Hayden.

On Nov. 19, Andrea L. Giles, 47, of Boothbay was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault and Domestic Violence Criminal Mischief, on Matthews Road, Boothbay, by Deputy John Braley.

Accidents

On Nov. 14, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Lisa Read, 41, of Damariscotta and Promis L. Bryant, 40, of Newcastle. Ms. Bryant was operating her 2015 Toyota Rav4 southbound and yielding to traffic on the on ramp. Ms. Read was operating her 2008 Honda CRV behind Bryant’s vehicle when she struck the back of it. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 15, an accident occurred on East Shore Road on Westport Island involving Brycen C. Bennett-Nein, 22, of Westport Island. Mr. Bennett-Nein was operating his 2005 Dodge Caravan northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 17, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Nancy M. Carter, 66, of Thomaston and Brady-Anne Cushing, 41, of Bath. Ms. Carter had stopped her Ford Escape at the intersection of Middle Road and Route 27 and Ms. Cushing was making a left hand turn in her 2016 Jeep Cherokee onto Middle Road from Route 27. Cushing cut the corner too sharply and struck the front of Carter’s vehicle. Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 17, an accident occurred on Main Road on Westport Island involving Brett E. Plummer, 60, of Westport Island. Mr. Plummer was operating his 2017 Ford F-350 southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side of the road and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 17, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Erica E. Powell, 33, of Bristol. Ms. Powell was operating her 2006 GMC 2500 northbound when a deer ran out from the right side of the roadway and struck the front passenger’s side corner of his vehicle. Deputy John Braley was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 18, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Anna E. Rushlau, 22, of Dresden. Ms. Rushlau was operating her 2003 Subaru Forester northbound when she lost control of her vehicle. As a result, her vehicle entered the shoulder of the road, overturned and came to final rest overturned against a standing tree. Deputy Chase Bosse was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 19, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Matthew W. Dorsey, 51, of Wiscasset. Mr. Dorsey was operating his 2008 Ford Crown Victoria southbound when he lost control of his vehicle and went off the right hand side of the road. When he tried to get back on the road, he over corrected, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway off the left side, striking several trees and a mailbox before coming to rest. Reserve Deputy Neil Genthner was the investigating officer.
