Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: More accidents caused by deer

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 236 calls for the period of Nov. 29 and Dec. 5, and year to date, LCSO has responded to 19,155 calls.

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

Arrests

On Nov. 28, Douglass M. Cote, Sr., 29, of Rumford was arrested on two counts of Violating Condition of Release, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Detective Scott Hayden.

On Dec. 3, Adam D. Reinecke, 29, of Boothbay Harbor was arrested for Operating under the Influence, on Barters Island Road, Boothbay, by Deputy John Braley.

On Dec. 3, Christopher McInnis, 50, of Somerville was arrested for Violating Condition of Release, on Hewett Road, Somerville, by Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles.

Accidents

On Nov. 28, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Belinda A. Barstow, 60, of Rockport and Jay H. Zoller, 73, of Newcastle. Mr. Zoller turned off Sheepscot Road and was accelerating to begin traveling northbound in his 2011 Toyota Rav4. Ms. Bartow came up behind Zoller in her 2001 Subaru Legacy and struck Zoller’s vehicle in the rear. Barstow continued on into Damariscotta where she was involved in another crash. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 28, an accident occurred on Hodgkins Hill Road in Jefferson involving Heather A. Winchenbach, 31, of Waldoboro. Ms. Winchenbach was operating her 2004 Chevrolet Impala southbound when she lost control of her vehicle, drifted off the road, entered the southbound ditch and struck a tree. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 28, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Travis Creamer, 20, of Damariscotta. Mr. Creamer was operating his 2012 Ford Fusion southbound when he stated he fell asleep and struck a utility pole, causing significant damage to the front end of his vehicle. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Philip A. Jellen, 35, of Jefferson. Mr. Jellen was operating his 2004 Toyota Tacoma westbound and due to black ice on the roadway, he lost control of his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle crossed the center line and into the left side ditch, where it then then rolled over, coming to rest on the passenger side. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Aaron D. Cole, 64, of Bristol. Mr. Cole was operating his 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound when a deer entered the roadway and collided with his vehicle. Lt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving Derek K. Bascom, 27, of Round Pond. Mr. Bascom was operating his 2013 Subaru Outback southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Jefferson involving John W. Golden, 73, of Whitefield. Mr. Golden was operating his 2005 Jeep Liberty westbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.
