Lincoln County Recovery Collaborative invites public to planning meeting

Tue, 01/10/2017 - 7:45am

A planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Skidompha’s Porter Auditorium. The purpose of this meeting is to brief community members on the addiction problem in Lincoln County, provide an update on the “Bridges to Recovery” and prevention efforts, and seek answers to the question - how can we help - what else can we do to be part of the solution?

Below are the ideas that have been suggested since this work began about a year ago.

  • Prevention
    • Evidence based youth and family education programs
    • Revised prescribing practices
  • Treatment
    • Law enforcement outreach and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) - intensive therapy, what we call Bridges to Recovery
    • Employment
    • Transitional housing
    • Transportation
    • Community attitudes about addiction and recovery (stigma)

We want your thoughts on how to further the work already in progress as well as which of these and other ideas to work on next in reducing our drug addiction problem, and how those ideas can be accomplished.

All members of the public are welcome to come, listen, be heard and become part of the solution.
