The mission of Lincoln County Dental Inc. is to provide access to dental care to those individuals who are at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty line and have no dental home. The agency opened its doors seven years ago and served Lincoln County residents. In June 2016, a catastrophic flood destroyed the Clinic, forcing the abrupt closure of the Damariscotta location. Since that time, the administrative home for Lincoln County Dental has been on the St. Andrews Campus of Lincoln Health where we have continued to provide a limited array of services.

The Children’s Oral Health Program is one of those programs that continues to provide for school aged children in Lincoln County. The vision of the program is to improve the oral health of Lincoln County ‘s youth. We aim to increase access to preventative dental services, decrease the incidence of dental disease and connect children to restorative dental services.

For the past month, Lincoln County Dental has been providing a children’s dental program at Boothbay Region High School’s Lincoln Health School Based Center. The parent/guardian of the elementary school children who attend have given permission to receive oral hygiene, cleanings, fluoride treatment and sealants, as needed. The great thing about it is the parents do not have to miss time from work and the children miss less classroom time than they would to attend an appointment like this in the community. The dental hygienist, Allison Raymond, is able to identify any areas of concern that she sees in the examination and report that back to the parent to make a follow-up appointment to see a dentist.

The Boothbay Region Health Center is located at the Boothbay Region High School and is a program offered by Lincoln Health. Kacy Pound is the office assistant of Lincoln Medical Partners at the Center. Pound works closely with Raymond and Lincoln County Dental Executive Director Holly Stover. When asked about the partnership between the Lincoln Health School Based Health Center and the Children’s Dental Clinic, Stover said “This is truly a great example of integrated health care between our two respective organizations. It also is good common sense to bring oral health services directly to the children and reduce any barriers they may have in receiving quality dental services.”

Lincoln County Dental is a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation. For more information about Lincoln County Dental, please contact Stover at 207-563-8668 or hstover@lcdental.org . If you are interested in donating, please send contributions to P.O. Box 256, Boothbay, ME 04537.
