Lewis E. Savage

Lewis Emerson Savage, 80, of Wiscasset, died June 3, 2016 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in Woolwich, Maine on May 1, 1936, he was the son of Wallace Irvin Savage and Mildred Curit Savage. Mr. Savage was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Wallace; and his son, Gary.

He attended Woolwich schools.  

His long and diverse employment history included the Bath Iron Works Harding Plant, Transportation Supervisor for School Administrative District #75 in Topsham, self-employment as a land developer, and the county of Lincoln.

Lew was a consummate outdoorsman, with an avid interest in hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for restoring cars and machinery.

He is survived by his wife, Katharine G. Martin-Savage of Wiscasset; daughters, Debra Estes and husband Stephen of Lisbon, and Kimberly Rager and husband Jeffrey of Wiscasset; daughter-in-law, Peggi Lee Savage of Wiscasset; three stepdaughters, Beth Martin and husband Martijn van de Rijdt of Denver, Colorado, Amy Martin and husband Aboubacar Camara of Baltimore, Maryland, and Stephanie Hergenroeder and husband Mark of Williamsburg, Virginia; as well as three grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June16 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta. A reception will follow the service at the 1812 Farm in Bristol. He will be laid to rest privately at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
