Let's get full disclosure

Dear Editor:

Wednesday evening’s meeting about the roundabout was very informative. I know that there are many people who think that it is a good idea, but I think that we need to move ahead very cautiously.

I have several concerns about these plans and would like more answers before I am swayed in favor of the roundabout. Mr. Coulombe guaranteed that there would never be any professional tournaments at his golf course, and the selectmen guaranteed that our taxes would not go up because of the roundabout. I would like to see that in writing. I would like to know more about Mr. Coulombe’s plans for his village and how that will impact our downtown businesses. How many more buildings is he planning on demolishing to bring his vision to fruition? He has a plan for the center but we are being asked to move forward without the benefit of full disclosure.

There is an old adage about not looking a gift horse in the mouth ... I think we should take a long hard look before we accept any gifts.
