From the fluffy tail to the fuzzy ears, rabbits were seen hopping everywhere in Mrs. Lucy Spaulding's Kindergarten class on Friday, April 17 at Boothbay Region Elementary School.

But these weren't tiny rabbits, they were her students dressed up to perform “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” to a packed audience of parents, grandparents and family members.

The students sang several songs, including ones about peter rabbit misbehaving, eating lots of veggies in Mr. McGregor’s garden and feeling sick, and being chased and losing his jacket and shoes.

The costumes and sets were put together by Mrs. Spaulding, the students, and helpful parents. According to parent Jennifer Hyson, mother of Mr. McGregor, the students have been working on the play since February.

“His costume was pretty easy, all we needed was a plaid shirt and a straw hat,” Hyson said.

Aiden Wolfe played Peter Rabbit, Ava McDuff played Flopsy Rabbit, Ally Warren played Mopsy Rabbit, Azara Bishop played Cottontail Rabbit, and Beatrix Recoing-Tallen played Mother Rabbit. Mr. McGregor was played by Cole Hyson, the two sparrows were played by Aiden Locke and Sam Bowden, and the two flower narrators were played by Gabrielle Crowell and Aubrey Holmes. The white cat was played by Haley Holbrook, and the mouse was played by Lexi Hughes.
