Learn to make delicious holiday appetizers

Thu, 12/04/2014 - 1:00pm

Are you looking for some new ideas to spruce up the cocktail hour over the holidays, when friends and family will be visiting?

Noted local chef Chris Sprague (author of "Chris Sprague's Newcastle Inn Cookbook: Recipes and Menus from a Celebrated New England Inn") will have some suggestions on that topic when she teaches how to make “Delicious Hors d’oeuvres for the Holidays” at the FARMS Community Kitchen (upstairs over the Rising Tide Market in Damariscotta).

At the class, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Chris will demonstrate the preparation of several favorites, including Wild Mushroom Ragout Crostini and Puff Pastry Pinwheels with Prosciutto and Gruyere.

These are dishes, she promises, that can be quite easily duplicated at home.

Come sit on one of the comfortable stools around the Community Kitchen’s central island and watch Chef Chris prepare these dishes.

The cost of the class is $25, which includes a sampling of all the dishes and complimentary wine.

Class size is limited, so reserve your space by leaving a message on the FARMS phone at 207-563-1161, or send your name and a check for $25 to FARMS, P.O. Box 421, Damariscotta ME 04543.
