Learn about your health insurance options at local forum

Sun, 10/19/2014 - 8:00am

Open enrollment begins Nov. 15, 2014 and ends Feb. 15, 2015. Get ready to renew or enroll in health insurance before the deadline for the Health Insurance Exchange and/or to sign up for a Medicare supplement plan before the enrollment period closes.

Join the Boothbay Region Health and Wellness Foundation for the latest information about the most popular health insurance options on the Boothbay peninsula for singles, families, and the over 65 set.

This informative health insurance forum will take place on Oct. 30 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church on Emery Lane. We will have two local speakers — both of whom are great resources for members of our community.

Malory Shaughnessy is the outreach and educationspecialist for Maine Community Health Options. She will explain how to use the health insurance exchange and answer any of your questions. She will describe the plans available from this Maine-based nonprofit co-op health insurance company.

Carol Farris from Farris Insurance’s Senior Planning Center will describe the most popular Medicare Advantage programs typically purchased by local residents. She will talk about Martins’ Point Medicare Advantage, the only Maine-based Medicare Advantage option available. She will also compare and contrast the other Medicare Supplement plans available and answer your questions.

Be prepared to make an informed decision about your family’s health insurance this year.
