Dear Editor:

The long lines at the Down East Ice Cream Factory kept me away this summer. They closed earlier than expected, so when I called, they were out of all ice cream, except chocolate. They had enough left for one cone! I drove down in the pouring rain, and the owner came to the door with a smile, a wrapped cone, a pint of chocolate, and on the lid was a smiley face with the word, “enjoy.”

Curb service, end of the season, pleasing a town customer. Boothbay Harbor at its best, and I did not want it to go unnoticed.
