Karma Yoga classes continue in support of local non-profits

The new year brought about new changes at Crow Point Yoga—namely, the introduction of Karma Yoga on Sundays from 9-10:15 a.m.  A vision and creation of instructor Wendy Johnson, the class is free to all, however donations are greatly appreciated as 100 percent of what is raised benefits local non-profits.

With the yoga studio’s unofficial mascot, a toy-sized poodle named The General, being a two-time rescue, it made sense for the inaugural month to benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.  In just four Karma Yoga classes, $650 was raised—a great feat that could not have been accomplished without community support, or the donation of time by teachers Wendy, Doug, Sharon, and Brittany.

With the new month, comes a new cause.  February can be a cold and financially difficult time for many.  Proceeds from this month’s classes on Feb. 4, 11, 18, and 25 will be donated in full to the Boothbay Region Fuel Assistance program.  All are welcome, and encouraged, to join in as classes are appropriate for all levels of practice.

Amit Ray says, “Peace is the foundation of yoga.  Karma yoga is the effort for bringing peace and happiness to the world.”  As an expression of gratitude for the Boothbay Region community, Crow Point Yoga strives to do just this at a local level.  Visit Crow Point Yoga on Facebook or at their website, www.crowpointyoga.com, to find out which of the many instructors participating in leading this new special class, will be teaching the class you are interested in joining.
