Justin T. Simmons

Justin Tyme Simmons, 37, of Western Avenue, died suddenly on Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born in Augusta on March 23, 1978, a son of Collis D. and Sherry M. (Maass) Simmons. Justin attended Bath schools and in 1996 graduated from Morse High School where he enjoyed swimming for Morse's swim team. He graduated from University of Maine in Orono with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology.

He moved back to Bath and was employed as a park ranger at Bradbury Mountain. He also loved working for the Bath YMCA as a swim instructor and lifeguard. He was later employed as an Ed tech for RSU 1 at Morse High School and later at Phippsburg School. For the last two years Justin, followed his passion for plants and horticulture and was employed as a manager of Great Works Landscaping.

He enjoyed sports, the Boston Celtics, the Patriots, loved plants, nature, botany, history, fishing, camping and especially spending time with his family and children. Justin will be remembered by his intelligence, quick wit, love of nature and his twinkling smile.

On October 3, 2009 he married Julia D. Reid of Woodstock, CT. Justin raised his children with the same passion for the outdoors and love of nature. His favorite activity with his children was teaching them about the natural world at the beach, in the woods, or their backyard.

Justin is survived by his mother, Sherry M. Simmons of Brunswick, his father, Collis D. Simmons of East Pittston, his wife, Julia D. Simmons of Bath, one son, Brandon Kai Simmons of Bath, one daughter, Alexandria “Lexi” Simmons of Bath, one brother, Zachery Simmons of Augusta, paternal grandmother, Frances Simmons of East Pittston, his father in-law Bill Reid of Putnam CT, his mother in-law Cynthia Dias of Woodstock CT, brother in-law David Reid of Chicago, IL., and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held later this spring.
