New Hope for Women is pleased to announce the addition of Julia Hatfield to its staff as a community-based advocate in Wiscasset.

Hatfield will be responsible for providing direct-service advocacy, community outreach throughout Lincoln County, and support to victims of domestic and dating violence.

Hatfield coordinated the Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October) campaign in Wiscasset, including a purple-lit tree in the town common and widespread participation of area businesses in the “Glowing and Showing” purple campaign. Additionally, she’s been collaborating with professionals throughout the community in providing a consistent and helpful response to intimate partner violence.

Hatfield’s position with New Hope for Women enables her to play a positive role in the team approach to ending domestic violence while partnering with other like-minded community programs. “It is not often that one can participate in providing services before, during, and after a crisis occurs while aiding in the restoration of a victim’s new and safe life, autonomy and overall well-being.”

Hatfield has three daughters and lives in Wiscasset with her husband Rick.
