Jane Blake Ross died June 26, 2016 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

She was born on February 28, 1937 at 28 Acres Cottages in Boothbay, Maine. She was the daughter of Ernest and Barbara (Gove) Blake. To this union was also born another daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Karpe) Blake.

Jane grew up in Boothbay Harbor, attended Boothbay schools and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1955.

As is common in life, Jane experienced her share of heartache, having lost her father at the age of 14, as well as twin boys who passed away just days after birth.

She married Roy Benjamin Potter Jr. (Pete) and together had four boys, Jeffrey Ernest Potter, Joel William Potter, Jay Allen Potter, and James Colliss Potter. Their union took them to Connecticut, California, back to Maine, North to Alaska, and Washington State.

Jane was a very driven, smart, and independent woman. She worked as a commercial loan officer at several banks while in Alaska and Washington State. Also, she and her then husband Pete owned and operated a small business called Videotronics in Yakima, Washington.

After retirement, Jane still enjoyed occasionally volunteering at a local hospital in Florida. In addition, she always enjoyed playing games that exercised the brain, two of her favorites were Sudoku and Mah Jong.

When she retired in Florida, she met Vernon H. Ross; they married on February 12, 1999. She was very blessed to meet and eventually marry Vernon, they were great together. Vern provided her with an abundance of love and kept them both active in her final years. In fact, Vern even persuaded Jane to go kayaking once or twice in her later years. She lived in Florida until her untimely passing.

Jane enjoyed her grandchildren immensely. Having been surrounded by her four boys most of her life, she was very happy to learn her first grandchild was a baby girl. She finally had someone to enjoy shopping as much as she did. Jane would often take her grandchildren with her on trips driving across the country. They still tell stories of the fun they had on those trips with their Nana. We know they will treasure the memories for the rest of their lives.

Jane was very close to both her mother and sister. In fact, they spoke on the phone almost every day. When her mother passed, she had a hard time filling the void left in her heart. She would regularly remind her boys how important it is to never become estranged no matter how busy their lives become.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, Ernest Blake and Barbara Lewis.

She is survived by her husband Vernon Ross of Florida; her stepdaughters, Jackie Lockwood of Florida, Susan Bean of Florida, Janice Ross of Florida; sons, Jeffrey Ernest Potter of Washington State, his wife Tyra, their kids, Justin, Samantha and Jacinda; Joel William Potter of Washington State, his wife Elizabeth, their kids, Amanda and Daniela; Jay Allen Potter of Oklahoma, his wife Lisa, their kids, Brittney, Joshua, Skylar, Kimberly, Mellanie and Sean; James Colliss Potter of Washington State, his kids, Cody, Brenna, Sam, Katrina, Andrew and Michael; her stepfather, Stanley (Swing) Lewis of Maine; her sister, Elizabeth Karpe of Connecticut and her husband Raymond Karpe; great-granddaughters, Paiton Whitney of Indiana and Harper Marie Tull of Washington State.

Jane was laid to rest on July 10, 2016 at the Oceanview Cemetery in Boothbay.
