James R. Fisk

James Robert Fisk, 49, of Wiscasset died Sept. 14, 2015, at Mid Coast Hospital, in Brunswick after battling a long illness with cancer.

Born in Springfield, Vermont, on Jan. 14, 1966, Jim was the son of Edwin E. Fisk Sr and Mary Jean Konesko Fisk Gagnon. He grew up in Charlestown, New Hampshire, before moving with his family to Brunswick where he attended Brunswick schools. During high school, he also shared a home with Bob and Pat Johnson and their family. 

After school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving  as an 82nd Airborne Parachute Trooper and Ranger. Upon leaving the service, he began working in the field of construction. For several years, he was employed by Harry C. Crooker & Sons as a laborer. He also worked doing marine construction. For 11 years, he worked as a pipe fitter for Bath Iron Works. He then became self employed as a builder/contractor and during this time he volunteered for the Edgecomb Fire Department as a firefighter. 

He married Terri Foye in 1989 and they raised their beautiful daughters, Samantha and Devin, in Wiscasset. His greatest enjoyment in life was being an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing, being out on the water with his best friend, Scott, creating and making art with wood and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a gifted artist with chain saw and woodworking skills. His skills also extended into the world of theater, dance, stage and costume making for his daughters and others. 

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his dad, Edwin E. Fisk Sr. who died in 1982, his mom Mary Jean Konesko Fisk Gagnon, who died in 2014, an older sister, Barbara and an older brother, Joseph. 

Jim leaves behind Terri and two daughters, Samantha, and Devin, all of Wiscasset; his stepfather, Leo N. Gagnon of Brunswick; three brothers, Richard A. Fisk of Limerick, Edwin E. Fisk Jr. of Brunswick, and Garret A. Fisk of Brunswick; his stepbrother, Lee Gagnon of Portland; a sister, Katherine F. Carter of Richmond and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews. 

On Saturday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wiscasset Community Center, Gardiner Road Wiscasset, there will be a celebration of Jim’s life. Light refreshments will be served.
