It’s graduation time

    Friday, May 29 is graduation day at Boothbay Region High School. Shortly after the 2 p.m. ceremony begins, 44 seniors will make their way across the stage to receive their diplomas from BRHS Principal Dan Welch and Superintendent of Schools Eileen King.

    BRHS teacher Mary Miller will provide the music for "Pomp and Circumstance" as the graduating class marches into a packed Porter Memorial Gymnasium on Friday afternoon, led by class marshal Joseph DiMauro. Salutatorian Sinead Miller will then deliver the Welcome Address.

    Giving the Honor Essay will be the duo of Nicole LaBrecque and Karl Alamo.

    After the class sings the alma mater, valedictorian Courtney Brewer will give the Farewell Address.

    The BRHS Vocal Ensemble will sing "Already Home" before Superintendent King gives her address to the class of 2015.

    Class advisor Allan Crocker will then introduce each senior as they step forward to receive their diploma.

    The commencement capping will then draw a grand ovation as the 44 students officially become high school graduates.

    In the morning on May 29, from 8 to 9:30, the class will celebrate itself during the annual Class Day festivities. The public is invited to attend.

    After the graduation ceremony, the Grand March and Alumni Ball begins at 8 p.m.

    The Grand March and Alumni Ball is sponsored by the Alumni Association. Parents or representatives in the “Parade of Parents” are guests of the Alumni Association, and will be admitted free of charge. At 7:45 p.m., parents will line up in preparation for the “Parade of Parents” into the gymnasium. Admission for the Graduation Ball is $5 per person, cash only. Tickets are not sold in advance, nor is reserved seating available. Doors open at 7 p.m.

    The BRHS class of 2015 will the depart for their Project Graduation class trip to Sunday River at around 10 p.m.
