Irving W. Williams

Irving Wayne Williams, 77, of Boothbay Harbor died on December 24, 2013 at the St. Andrews Village Gregory Wing nursing home after a long illness.

He was born in Boothbay, the son of Dallas Cunningham Danielson and Ralph Williams. His stepdad, Mauritz (Dan) Danielson was like a real dad in his life.

He joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 1953. He served until 1956 with B. Co. 1st Bn. Div. He traveled to various countries and loved to tell about his adventures.

He was known as a terrific welder at various shipyards, including Goudy & Stevens, Bath Iron Works, and at Maine Yankee when it was being built. He was also a linoleum installer for W.E. Townsend & Son, a carpenter and painter for Robert Farris, General Contractor, and held other jobs.

After retirement, he also did painting for several people. He was always ready to lend a had to family and friends. He was a wonderful and kindhearted man.

He was a long-time member of Bay View Lodge #196 in East Boothbay and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Boothbay Harbor.

He loved to go camping with his wife and grandchildren. He also loved to dance.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Ellen Pinkham Williams; daughters, Debbie Williams, Laurie Slingland of Florida and Rhonda Williams; one son, Randy Williams; two stepdaughters, Susan Hodgdon and Lynn Pinkham; one stepson, Christopher Pinkham; one stepsister, Movita Horton of Bar Harbor; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather and brothers, Ralph (Sonny) Williams of North Newcastle and Mauritz (Mott) Danielson Jr.

There will be no funeral or service. His remains went to the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford as part of the anatomic donor program.
