Miles & St. Andrews Home Heath & Hospice has announced that Peter Asche has agreed to serve as the choral director of their newly-forming Hospice Choir. Executive Director Kathy Bean, RN said, “We are extremely pleased to have Peter lead this effort. He is very talented with a breadth of experience. His energy and enthusiasm for choral music combined with his commitment to our mission to provide the very best possible care and support to our patients at the end-of-life is greatly appreciated.”

Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice cares for patients who live in private homes, facilities and hospitals throughout Knox and Lincoln counties. Their hospice patients receive a comprehensive range of services from companionship to highly-technical skilled nursing and therapy. They plan to coordinate visits of choir members to area hospitals and long-term care facilities as well as to private homes at the request of dying patients or their loved ones.

In preparation for their first performance at the Fall Choral Festival on Nov. 13, the new Hospice Choir will hold rehearsals in the sanctuary of the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle on Oct. 31 and Nov. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. All those interested in joining the Choir are invited to attend. Following the performance on Nov. 13, the choir will rehearse every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Choir members must agree to:

  • Attend a hospice services overview training
  • Provide an email address for communications regarding Hospice Choir events
