Honored to help Memorial Library

Tue, 11/15/2016 - 8:00am

    Dear Editor:

We are much honored to be this year's Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library's Annual Appeal Fund co-chairs. Since 2008, we have been members of the Boothbay/Boothbay Harbor community and have been humbled by the generosity and unity of its members, especially when Wannawaf held its annual waffle-eating contest in our honor when Mandy was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2013 (she is doing well now!) The support of the community coming together was truly overwhelming and greatly treasured.

Nick is a high school teacher and coach, while Mandy loves life as a stay at home mom for their sweet-natured and very playful little girl, Emma Rose. All three of us are extremely excited to meet the newest bundle of joy (or "baby brother") arriving shortly after Christmas.

As a family, we love to travel, go on hikes and bike rides, to beaches and kayaking in the summertime, skiing and tubing in the winter, and are always up for a new adventure. As much as we enjoy the outdoors and nature, we simply love to spend time with those we love and those moments of being together inside, often with a good story.

We consider the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library to be one of the most important and valued resources in the region. It's free, inviting, open to all ages and interests, and offers a wide array of events and programs. As lovers of a good story, we are frequent visitors usually being unable to leave without an armful of books. We partook in their wonderfully warm and inviting story hour prior to Emma beginning preschool this fall, and have enjoyed many events held both in the library and on the library lawn.

We can think of no other local cause we could support more wholeheartedly. From our family to yours, to the community, and beyond, we ask you to please support the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library with your generous donation to this year’s Annual Appeal effort. Your generosity, large and small, will help keep the library's vital services and opportunities available to many more generations to come.

    Nick, Mandy and Emma Scott

    Boothbay
