Fri, 04/18/2014 - 4:00pm

Coastal Enterprises (CEI), a nonprofit community development organization, with the support of Maine State Housing Authority, will offer the First-Time Homebuyer Seminar, a two-day Homeownership Education Course, on Saturdays, April 26 and May 3, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Coastal Enterprises, 36 Water St., Wiscasset.

The purpose of the Homeownership Education Course is to help people prepare for and be well informed about the process of buying a home. Seminar topics include evaluating your credit and what price home you can afford; budgeting and money management; selecting and working with real estate agent, home inspections, types of available mortgages, including Maine Housing, VA, Rural Development; and the closing process and post-closing considerations. Participants must complete all four sessions and will receive a Certificate of Completion.

CEI is a HUD approved, certified, and funded Housing Counseling Agency. The Homeownership Education course is an approved HoMEworks course. HoMEworks is a statewide organization of nonprofit and private sector organizations supporting a statewide network of homeownership education providers offering consistent, high-quality homeownership education throughout Maine.

Preregistration is required and there is a $30/person or $50/couple (or co-buyer) non-refundable charge for the two-day seminar. Registrations will not be accepted after April 18.
