Wed, 01/27/2016 - 11:00am

If you are of high school age and in a band with others your age, for $25 you can enter the band in the Maine Academy of Modern Music's (MAMM) SLAM, a.k.a. Maine's High School Rock Off!

Prizes for the winning band: $1K, a tour of Gateway Mastering Studio in Portland, recording time, scholarships to the Maine College of Art (up to $16K for each band member!), gigs – including a time slot during the Old Port Fest this summer; radio appearances, professional marketing advice … sounds like something you can't pass up, right?

To enter, to download the application, and for more information, visit Maine Today at http://mainetoday.com/maine_music/mamm-slam/mamm-slam-2016/ - by the deadline, Friday, March 4. In addition to the entry fee, bands must submit a CD and photo.

The preliminary round will be on Saturday, April 9 at the Bayside Bowl at 58 Alder Street, and the final round Saturday, May 14 at Portland House of Music & Events at 25 Temple Street.

The MAMM SLAM is generously sponsored by MaineToday.com, Bayside Bowl, Rusty Rocket Music Fund, Coffee By Design, Crooked Cove, State Theatre, Portland House of Music & Events and Gateway Mastering, with support from WCYY, WBLM, Maine Magazine, WPXT-TV, and MECA.
